Progressive jazz meets Afro-Caribbean rhythms in the liveliest music this side of San Juan. Papo Vázquez has been sliding sizzling trombone solos with great Latin and jazz bands for more than 35 years. The Grammy-nominated and NEA Latino Masters Award–winning trombonist and composer now fronts his hottest band yet, the Mighty Pirates Troubadours. Vázquez and this scorching septet play funky jazz spiced by the exotic sounds of traditional Puerto Rican folk music, delighting audiences with its irresistible beat.
