Experience the Arts at Snug Harbor's Academy for the Gifted and Talented. Session 2: April 26 -- June 28, 2008 Snug Harbor Cultural Center's Academy for the Gifted and Talented provides an environment where children can express themselves -- emphasizing creativity and experimentation through age-appropriate projects, themes and skills. Program instructors utilize a variety of materials and techniques including painting, drawing, printmaking, collage and sculpture. Advanced courses provide students in grades 7, 8, 10 & 11 with portfolio preparation for specialized art high schools and colleges. Academy classes maintain a teacher-student rario of 1 to 15 and are taught by certified New York State art educators and art education graduate students. Snug Harbor supports the New York City Education Department's Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts and recognizes that children thrive in an artistic environment. Snug Harbor is expanding the arts beyond the school day by providing a high quality Saturday Arts Academy for grades K-12.
