About Us

Snug Harbor Cultural Center is developing its reputation as Staten Island’s creative center for the performing arts through four strategies:

- Dramatically expanding the breadth, appeal and quality of its performing arts program
- Building a strongly supportive audience through regularly scheduled productions of

consistently high quality offerings at reasonable ticket prices
- Supporting both emerging and established Staten Island theater artists through the in-house

productions of carefully selected theatrical works, including musical theater that will appeal

  to local audiences.
- Offering educational performing arts enrichment for community children and educators.

Throughout the year Snug Harbor offers a wide array of performances, from free summer concerts to Dickens Festival. Snug Harbor Cultural Center hosts the New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera in concert to audiences in excess of 9,000. Our theatre repertoire company produces six sell out shows per year and presents a myriad of performing arts showcases ranging from Alvin Ailey to the Staten Island Children’s Theatre.

Snug Harbor is deeply committed to educating students and their teachers in grades K-12, as well as mentoring college students. The humanities-based educational component of Snug Harbor’s Theatre for Young Audiences draws connections between literary-based theatrical productions and the cultural, social and intellectual contexts that influenced the creation of the work.
